I’m starting studio photography probably next week. I’ll be posting test images here before I get into my next project. You’ll like this 1 I swear, it’s vastly different from 57 Chevy but promises to be just as fun. 57 Chevy Atlanta is still going through finishing touches but when it’s done I’ll put up a link for buying prints for those interested. 57 Chevy New York is on hold depending on when I have enough money and time to travel there, but god I can’t wait for that it’ll be my best project to date. I have a ton of locations that I want to check out. I’m not sure if I’ll take 57 Chevy to anymore stores, the store where I buy the cars isn’t consistent enough for me to buy the models I need repeatedly so if I lose or damage a car that’s it.
So the immediate future is studio test work, 57 Chevy Atlanta(oh I’ve got a new photo to post) and a studio project. More prolonged projects include 57 Chevy New York and The Ring which should be a solid project. Ultimately I’m thinking that I don’t want to confine myself to conceptual photography and that I want to have a diverse art portfolio of different projects. The studio project is definitely not conceptual work, it’s more of a collection that working with an idea.
Again I apologize for the lack of art. Right now I’m working to attain what I need to start new projects, and what’s left of 57 Chevy Atlanta is mostly re-dos but there may be a few new compositions.
New photo today.
Shooting for 57 Chevy Atlanta resumes tomorrow. I’m planning for New York, this is going to be amazing. Also I want to do a studio project soon instead of the location based stuff I have planned.
I know lately I’ve been all talk and no new art but I’m in this weird stage where I’m trying to finish a project and trying to start new ones without the resources to do so. That said I’m switching around my projects again so I can start this next one immediately. I won’t be doing Nightshop, instead I’ll be doing a project I’ve been holding onto for a while called Packages. Packages is a multimedia project, it will consist of atmospheric photographs incorporated into multimedia backgrounds made of things such as envelopes and buttons and printed text and small boxes. It’s a smaller project examining how photography can be enhanced with the other mediums that it can be combined with. All 57 Chevy projects are scheduled to progress over the next few years, with Atlanta being complete by September. The Ring is on hold until next Spring due to costs, and POC/Conceptual is on hold even longer than that.
Progress, this is where I am right now after a year and a few months. It’s been a long journey but I’ve definitely improved. I’ll finish Atlanta by September, after that it’s time to move on to other cities. Atlanta is mostly done though about half of these need improved shots and 1 or 2 may ultimately be replaced. For those who have never seen this project before this is 57 Chevy a series of Sunday drives exploring urban space with my toy 57 Chevy. While the project was originally supposed to be only Atlanta I have decided to expand to as many American cities as I possibly can over the next few years. The project may also be followed at my flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/53180730@N03/sets/72157634918175938/
I’m adding a new project, I’ll start it tonight and post some of it if it goes well. It’s called Nightshop, and it’s a smaller project depicting businesses at night. As for the rest, 57 Chevy Atlanta is nearly done and will be on sell when I’m satisfied with it, either 57 Chevy Chattanooga or New York will be starting before the year’s end, and The Ring should be starting around fall and continuing into next summer. POC/Conceptual will probably be after that due to cost of supplies.
I think I’ve decided on my next project. For now I’ll say that it’s more standard conceptual fare and it’s a reaction. Since this project will require more money and a lot of research I probably won’t start it until next march or so but in the meantime I’ll be finishing 57 Chevy Atlanta, working on The Ring, and starting whichever 57 Chevy is next and classwork. For now I’ll call that next planned project POC/Conceptual.
Hm I may be starting another project this summer. I’m not 100% sure. What I’m thinking is that I should either do a new project or an expansion of The Ring. The idea is to do public art happenings(art events that attendees can participate in) and photograph the attendees as I direct them in each happening. I’ll do them in parks and other public spaces in Atlanta for a few months. Thoughts?
